The basecamp will be a large open field with water available for horses. We will have porta-johns in the basecamp but no electricity. Basecamp will open up on the 3rd of March for those wanting to come early. A map of the basecamp will be available when you pull in to show where to park.
Riders coming to the Goethe State Forest to ride the Fun in the Sun Rides will be grateful to have such well-marked, scenic trails with nice footing. Trails will loop out of basecamp each day. The 30 mile LD and 50 mile endurance rides will have all their checks in camp, while the 100 mile ride will have both checks out of camp and in camp.
Riders will enjoy the various distances that we will be offering over the weekend. Friday we will have 50 and 75 mile rides. Saturday we will have a 30 mile Limited Distance ride in addition to a 50 mile ride. On Sunday we will be hosting a 30 LD, 55 mile ride as well as a 1-day 100 mile ride.
A Bar-B-Que is planned for Friday or Saturday evening complete with all the trimmings at the basecamp so that riders will not need to leave horses and trailers alone.
